Where items drop is hidden until launch. Blizzard keeps loot tables and many item stats off the client until someone loots the item, so we show what each item does, not where it drops. 3,138 equippable items have their stats withheld; for 430 of them the effect is already readable and they appear here as “stats withheld”. How these numbers are made

Forever computes item stats like modern WoW: each stat is a percentage of an item-level budget that depends on quality and slot. We apply the same formulas to the client tables (RandPropPoints, ItemArmor*, ItemDamage*), render every effect text with its numbers, and read the zones behind biome effects from the spells’ area requirements.

Cross-check with Wowhead

On September 23, 2026 we compared 300 random items with Wowhead’s Forever tooltips: 560/565 stat lines, 205/205 armor values, 50/50 weapon damage ranges, 64/64 random-bonus stat lines and 128/130 effect texts matched exactly.

Where the two sources differ, and why:

  • 2 effect text(s) differ only in rounding (Zandalar Freethinker's Armguards (19827): effect text — Wowhead “Reduces the casting time of your Holy Light spell by 0 sec.”, ours “Reduces the casting time of your Holy Light spell by 0.1 sec.”; Blood Guard's Silk Walkers (22860): effect text — Wowhead “Reduces the cooldown of your Blink spell by 2 sec.”, ours “Reduces the cooldown of your Blink spell by 1.5 sec.”): Wowhead’s Forever tooltips round divided values to whole numbers, while its Classic tooltips of the same spells keep the decimals (Blink −1.5 sec, Holy Light −0.1 sec), as the game does.
  • 4 stat line(s) on poor or common items (Rake of the Sleeper (256039): Agility — Wowhead 4, ours 2; Reverance (254696): Intellect — Wowhead 31, ours 19): Wowhead computes these qualities with the Epic budget. The client’s own percentages land on whole numbers with the Uncommon budget for every common item that has stats (Strong Fishing Pole +5 Fishing, as in Classic), so we keep that rule. A few new poor-quality items look designed for the Epic budget; their quality may still be a beta placeholder.
  • Crusader Bow (15287), “of … Protection” bonus 12744: the client data adds +4 resistance; Wowhead’s tooltip shows only the Stamina part.
  • Reverance (254696): Shadow Resistance — Wowhead 0, ours 12

A difference listed without a cause is still open: often one side already carries a newer beta hotfix. Our data is rebuilt with every client build.

Limits

Thrown weapons show no damage because no reference tooltip confirms the number. Wowhead does not display the new “against creature type” and profession stats yet, so those follow the same verified formula without an external check. Items whose data Blizzard withholds only show their effect.
